Measuring and managing CO2 performance
Stakeholder Reporting establishes SAG Sustainability-Accounting GmbH, expanding the consulting group’s skills to include the key CR Accountancy business area. Dr. Uta Müller, a Business Economist and a highly experienced Senior Consultant, has accepted the post of Executive Managing Director of this new consultancy company. The Group’s existing consulting portfolio is augmented with highly specialised services in Controlling, Sustainability Management and Organisational Development.
For many years now Dr. Uta Müller has pursued a comprehensive, scientifically based consultancy approach. Since 1995, the qualified Economist and former Chairwoman of the Process Controlling Forum run by the International Association of Controllers has advised industrial and service companies on material flow accounting and process controlling. Underpinning the new company’s approach is client companies’ material and energy flow models, as well as their business supply chain. She draws up ecological and CO2 balance sheets, advises clients on production and logistics controlling and supports companies in re-engineering their business processes. She also holds an academic post, running courses and seminars within a ‘Systemic Organisational Development and Consultancy’ MBA curriculum.
Since 2008, Dr. Müller has worked with Stakeholder Reporting on a project basis. The focus has been mainly on advising companies on their development of sustainable organisational structures, as well as on the implementation of target systems and processes for the evaluation and management of their climate and environmental performance. True to the Stakeholder Reporting Group’s integrated approach, Dr. Müller and Sustainability Accounting will not just provide clients with expert advice on Carbon Footprints, Performance Management and Systemic Process Design, but will also advise them on Carbon Risk Management.
With this comprehensive, cross-disciplinary approach, Sustainability Accounting offers its clients an integrated consultancy concept unique on the market. Amongst other things, its goal is to support companies in the long-term development of their internal skill-sets. This is another way in which Sustainability Accounting’s approach differs from classic, mainstream consultancy.
The basis for successful Carbon Management is first to establish transparency, for instance in the form of CO2 Accounting. Following this groundwork, Sustainability Accounting accompanies its clients with business solutions in the reduction and substitution of greenhouse gas emissions, another specialisation in its consultancy portfolio. Compared with greenhouse-gas compensation - which many companies have already implemented ad hoc but for which they may also draw criticism - reduction and substitution hold the real challenges and opportunities. Steps towards genuine climate neutrality can, after all, be of the highest value to the reputation of a company.
